"It is often said that Leonardo drew so well because he knew about things; it is truer to say that he knew about things because he drew so well." Kenneth Clark
Further information about our holidays
FLIGHTS AND LUGGAGE We use Ryanair for our European destinations and secret destination holidays, usually out of Stansted and East Midlands. Our prices include hand luggage only. As long as your bag goes under the seat in front there is no problem. I personally travel with a 35 litre rucksack and I’ve never had any issues. If you need a larger cabin bag, please let us know. For our long-haul destinations we usually fly with Emirates, Malaysia, Qatar or Garuda. Cabin luggage, meals, drinks and in-flight entertainment are included in the price. DEPOSITS AND PAYMENTS To confirm your booking we need a deposit of £150 for European destinations and £600 for long haul. The balance isn’t required until 30 days before we travel. If you cancel we cannot refund the price of your flight. Your travel insurance will cover this if you have an insurable reason not to travel. Please read the full terms and conditions before booking here. WE ARE GREEN Our trips are carbon neutral. We donate to the World Land Trust to protect endangered natural environments and plant trees in order to off-set our flight carbon. OTHER THINGS TO CONSIDER We travel on the understanding that we go as a group of friends. It is important that you are happy to be in a group with others and contribute to the group experience. Our tutorials are communal and we often eat together, so it is important to be sociable and open. It is very likely that you will leave the trip with new friends who have common and shared values. Our trips have a way of bringing people together and past guests have become life-long friends. ![]() ACCOMMODATION
The prices are quoted for sharing a room with one other person of the same gender. Single occupancy supplements can be arranged. We always use hotels and hostels with twin beds with an en-suite bathrooms. Depending on the location, some hotels come with breakfast included and some, on the long haul destinations have a swimming pool. Some accommodation is up to 3 star and sometimes we stay in very simple places. We prioritise the location so that we're always near to the areas of interest, and sometimes that means staying in modest hostels. We always try to keep the price as low as possible while staying in places that are clean and central. TRANSPORT On the long-haul destinations all travel between hotels when we are away is included in the price. For the 4 or 5 day trips local transport to and from the airport is not included. Normally this is in the region of £5 -£10 for the return journey per person. |
FITNESS A number of our holidays do involve quite a lot of walking, so a reasonable level of fitness is required. Please ask about this before booking if you think you may have issues. TRAVEL TIPS
Before we travel, we can advise you as to what to bring and, just as importantly, what to leave behind. We can advise you about currency exchange rates and money, insurance and health. Just let us have your questions. We’re happy to chat and we’re always here to help. CONDITIONS OF BOOKING Bookings are undertaken on the understanding that you have adequate travel insurance. Drawing Escapes is not a registered travel company and as such we must travel as a community of friends with a common interest. Our role is to book the flights on your behalf and arrange the accommodation and tuition. We will be your travel guide at the destinations and will handle the teaching and arrange transfers. You are responsible for your own behaviour and safety and visas, if applicable. Please read the full terms and conditions before booking here. PASSPORTS AND VISAS
All British nationals must hold a full 10 year passport, with at least 6 months validity remaining after the return date. Visas are the responsibility of each person traveling but advice and assistance will be provided when requested. We are here to help. BEFORE YOU TRAVEL We are excited to see any drawing you have done prior to the trip, or to discuss your interests and concerns and worries. This way, we have an introduction to the way you draw and what you are interested in getting out of the trip. This can help us to give you the most appropriate support when we're away. AFTER THE HOLIDAY
Once we are home again we are happy to look at any developmental work that you produce in response to the trip and give you feedback on your progress. We love seeing how you're getting on and we love to show off your results, with your permission, on our blog and social networks. |
